If you are searching for the perfect Washington County Maryland Cabins, you aren’t just looking for a place to sleep—you are looking for a way to reconnect. Timber Valley Retreat Campgrounds is a 100-acre farm located in the heart of Western Maryland, specifically designed to help families put down their electronic devices and rediscover the wonders of the natural world. Whether you are traveling from DC, VA, PA, or WV, our retreat offers a private, enchanted experience that stays with you long after you leave from Washington County Maryland Cabins.
1. Family Hospitality from Karen and Tom Grosh 🤝
As a lifelong landscape contractor by trade, I (Tom) spend all of my time outdoors. I have a deep love for nature and the care of our property. Family Hospitality from Karen and Tom Grosh is the soul of this farm. We are a small, family-owned and operated business, and we take immense pride in being an official production of Timber Valley Retreat. We only rent to one family or group at a time, meaning you have the entire 100-acre campgrounds all to yourself. Supporting our dream means experiencing a level of stewardship and personal care that is truly unique at Washington County Maryland Cabins.
2. Exclusive Glamping Maryland Cabins 🏠
Our Washington County Maryland Cabins offer accommodations for up to 15 people across three climate-controlled cabins (per Maryland law, we host 5 people per cabin). Each cabin features AC and Heat, ensuring your “unplugged” weekend is still perfectly comfortable. Because you are the only group on-site, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the farm without the crowds of traditional campgrounds.
3. The “Enchanted Forest” and Mossy Boulders 🌿
One of the most magical parts of Timber Valley Retreat Campgrounds is our large outcropping of moss-covered boulders. This area offers a true “enchanted forest” vibe. Adults and kids alike love the experience when we take them through the large boulder walkway into this hidden, emerald world. It is a favorite spot for exploration and high-end nature photography.
4. A Traditional Wagon Ride & Farm Tour 🚜
We offer all guests a free “hay wagon” ride around the farm. This isn’t just a ride; it’s an educational tour where we show you the hand-dug well, the spring-fed pond, and the wild sunflowers that return every year thanks to the goldfinches and bluebirds. We take immense pride in being an official production of Timber Valley Retreat and sharing the secrets of our land with you.
5. The Majestic Potomac River: “The Nation’s River” 🛶
The Potomac River, known as “The Nation’s River,” is a vital waterway for history and recreation. It flows 383 miles from the Appalachian Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay, forming the borders for Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. We are just a short 3-minute walk from the river, which offers world-class fishing, boating, kayaking, and tubing.
6. Historic C&O Canal Access 🥾
Timber Valley Retreat Campgrounds borders the historic C&O Canal. We are located at mile marker 108, providing immediate access to 184.5 miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails. For history buffs, the canal is filled with historic structures and locks waiting to be explored.

7. The Train Watcher’s Deck 🚂
We have a unique deck area where guests can sit and watch the trains from a vantage point directly above the tracks. You can feel the wind as the train passes below—a thrilling experience for kids and rail enthusiasts alike!
8. Wildlife Viewing Stations 🦌
The farm has abundant wildlife, including white-tailed deer and wild turkeys. We have established several wildlife viewing stations throughout the 100 acres so our guests can enjoy watching nature in its undisturbed state.
9. Bluebird Conservation 🐦
Nature care is at our core. We have over 20 Bluebird boxes on the property where Bluebirds raise their families each year. Watching these vibrant birds flit through the landscape beds is a daily joy at Timber Valley Retreat.
10. The Spring-Fed Pond and Paddle Boating 💧
Our spring-fed pond is a “delightful, sparkling clear” oasis. We offer paddle boating for our guests, providing a serene way to enjoy the water and watch the dragonflies dance over the surface.
11. Edible Nature: Paw Paws and Chestnuts 🌳
During our farm tours, we show guests the Paw Paw trees, Chestnuts, and wild raspberry plants that provide food for the local wildlife. It is a great way for children to learn where food comes from in the wild.
12. Superior Summer Kitchen & Amenities 🍳
Our summer kitchen is fully equipped with 2 refrigerators, a stove/oven, a microwave, a sink with hot/cold water, and all the tableware you need. We also provide an outdoor shower with hot/cold water and a flushable toilet for the ultimate glamping convenience.
13. A World-Class Children’s Play Area 🤸♂️
Kids love our playground! It features an airplane seesaw, numerous swings, a treehouse, and a sandbox. It’s designed to keep the little ones engaged with active, outdoor play while the adults relax on the porch.
14. Central to National and State Parks 🚗
Within a 2-hour drive, you can visit iconic sites such as:
- Antietam National Battlefield
- Gettysburg National Battlefield
- Fort Frederick State Park
- Harpers Ferry (John Brown Raid Headquarters)
