Hosting Brad and his group for a guys’ weekend before an upcoming wedding was truly a pleasure. They took excellent care of Timber Valley Retreat, left everything clean and tidy, and were wonderful guests throughout their stay.
This is a beautiful property that was perfect for our bachelor party weekend. Cabins are all clean, AC worked well, kitchen amenities all in good order. Tons of shade and outdoor space, nice pit, and easy access to the river!
Since we didn’t have guests arriving that evening, we were happy to extend their checkout time so they could relax, spend a little more time together, and have a comfortable place to gather before heading to the airport for their flights home.

Timber Valley Retreat is an absolute gem! We recently brought our Girl Scout troop to their private campground, and Tom and Karen went completely above and beyond to make sure our girls had an unforgettable experience. The girls were absolutely enchanted by the "enchanted forest," and they had a blast exploring the property, especially the pond (we might or might not have lost a croc or two....beware! LOL). The Grosh's and their fur babies also treated us to a fantastic ‘hayless-hayride’ that was a huge highlight of our trip, especially the stop at the Billy-goat Farmstand. Thank you!!!! The property itself is beautiful and incredibly well-maintained and I especially appreciated the clean and tidy cabins/facilities. The hospitality here is unmatched. Tom and Karen truly care about their guests and went out of their way to keep the girls happy, engaged, and safe. Tom even went out of his way to help one of my girls earn a badge that's been a tough one for her. We will definitely be back! Thank you for hosting our troop so beautifully!

10/10 experience at Timber Valley! We had the best stay at this retreat with 8 adults and 9 kids. The facilities were clean, tidy and the hosts were beyond friendly and accommodating. Our kids had a blast swimming in the river, cold plunging and paddle boating in the spring and the secret garden space was so enchanting. Core family memories were made here for sure! We will definitely be back.

From before we entered the campsite, Tom was very proactive and responsive to meeting our needs. He then met us onsite to orient us to the campsite. Cabins were incredibly clean and comfortable. Campfire wood was well stocked. The location was beautiful - perfect space for our extended family to enjoy nature and time together. Timber Valley is stocked with amenities beyond the typical; the property hosts plenty of opportunities for relaxation, play, and exploration; the wagon ride was a fun outing that the kids really enjoyed; the “enchanted forest” was nothing short of a fairy tale experience; and the layout and setup were well thought out and very comfortable. We hadn’t even reached the last day of our stay and we were already planning a trip back in the future! Tom and Karen's place exceeded all expectations. We were blown away by how roomy the cabins are, the beautiful crystal clear pond, the wild life, and so much more. Tom even took us on a wagon ride and the kids loved being able to pet and snuggle on their old pups. There is a lot to be said about the property and the owners. All wonderful things. definitely a spot that needs to be revisted again and again. we walked a lot of trails and still have more to come back and enjoy that we haven't been on yet.

In Oct 2025 my friends and I stayed at Timber Valley Retreat for the 2025 Maryland Bear Lottery using the camp as our home base during the hunt. We ended up falling in love with this place and the owners who treated us as family. So much so that we are returning to the Timber Valley Retreat for our summer vacation. The cabins and all accommodations were amazing. The whole camp site is professionally maintained. Additionally, the location makes for a perfect friends gathering or family reunion. They’ll always be our go-to place to stay when visiting western Maryland.

Wow, we just had the best long weekend. This place was extremely clean, air conditioning was nice and cold, kitchen well equiped, shower hot, a lot of very comfy beds and pillows. We felt at home and Tom went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Tom took us on a cool wagon ride. This is our second visit to Tom and Karen's amazing retreat site. Tom and Karen are the most hospitable hosts you can imagine. Their location is a wonderland of Peace, spacious areas and so much to do. They added a trail ride which was so much fun. I have plans to visit their campsite every year for the rest of my life, and my friends feel the same. It is truly a hidden gem in such a magical place where beautiful memories can happen. It's rare to go to an Airbnb and you feel like family. 10 out of 10 A,+++. I can't give them a high enough review. Their location is Shangri-La.

Booked this stay for a friends trip and it did not disappoint. The pictures don't really do it justice but it's a beautiful property, outside of the city enough to find quiet but with cell signal. We loved the place so much it's top of the list if we do another trip in the DMV area in the future. Everything was cleaned, well-equipped, and Tom was very reachable and proactive in helping us navigate to and prepare for our stay. Bottom line, great stay and great hosts!

Our stay at Timber valley was amazing beyond our expectations! We rented out the campsite from Friday night until Sunday morning for our wedding celebration. The campsite was clean, well-maintained and secluded. The cabins exceeded our expectations and we even convinced friends to camp for their very first time. We had the greatest time with family and friends celebrating my birthday. Karen and Tom were the nicest and most hospitable hosts that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. From hanging out with their friendly pups, to taking the kids on a gator ride around their beautiful property, or giving us a walking tour of the grounds, Tom and Karen were the best! You can tell they take a lot of care and pride in making you feel right at home. There is so much to do! From playing in the pond on the boat, the walk through the 'Enchanted Forest', the abundance of wildlife, a relaxing river walk, sitting around the huge firepit, the playground for the kids, the comfortable and plentiful chairs on the deck, or the comfy and clean cabins with a.c., you will feel relaxed and at peace! Timber Valley Retreat is my favorite place to camp! My son enjoys exploring at he pond and my husband loves relaxing by the enormous fire pit. The Perfect Family Getaway at Timber Valley Retreat

We could not have asked for a better place for our group getaway at Timber Valley Retreat. We had four small families with kids ranging in age from 9 to 13, and the property was absolutely perfect for a group like ours. The cabins were incredibly spacious, comfortable, and beautifully set up. The AC was ice cold, which was especially appreciated in the summer heat, and every one of us slept incredibly well. With multiple families sharing the property, having plenty of space to spread out made the entire experience feel easy and relaxing. But what really made the stay special was being able to slow down and enjoy everything the property and surrounding area had to offer. We spent afternoons taking cold plunges in the spring-fed pond, which quickly became a favorite activity for both the kids and adults. We also packed up a full day’s worth of food and drinks and headed down to the Potomac, where we spent hours lounging on a flotilla of rafts we brought along. It was exactly the kind of summer day you hope for when planning a family getaway. And then there were the thunderstorms. Sitting together under the tin awning listening to the rain come down was one of those unexpectedly memorable moments that you just can’t manufacture. Everyone was together, completely relaxed, listening to the storm roll through while staying perfectly dry. Timber Valley Retreat gave us the perfect combination of comfort, adventure, and the opportunity to simply unplug and enjoy time together. The kids had an absolute blast, the adults actually got to relax, and there was plenty of space for everyone. We left already talking about when we could come back. Highly recommend Timber Valley Retreat for anyone looking for a memorable group or family getaway. We will absolutely be back!

Beautiful place! Already recommended it to friends and family. Had an awesome time. Karen and Tom were super helpful and not too far away when we needed something. We had a pretty decent size group and there was a lot to do. It kind of felt like being back at camp 🏕︎ based on what my teens said and I would agree. Loved it! Everyone was happy. Hosting Brad and his group for a guys’ weekend before an upcoming wedding was truly a pleasure. They took excellent care of Timber Valley Retreat, left everything clean and tidy, and were wonderful guests throughout their stay.
Since we didn’t have guests arriving that evening, we were happy to extend their checkout time so they could relax, spend a little more time together, and have a comfortable place to gather before heading to the airport for their flights home.

Tom and Karen have created a magical escape for visitors of all ages. From the minute you arrive, the incredible hospitality is obvious and you feel right at home. Timber Valley is stocked with amenities beyond the typical; the property hosts plenty of opportunities for relaxation, play, and exploration; the wagon ride was a fun outing that the kids really enjoyed; the “enchanted forest” was nothing short of a fairy tale experience; and the layout and setup were well thought out and very comfortable. We hadn’t even reached the last day of our stay and we were already planning a trip back in the future! This was by far one of the best AirBNB experiences we’ve had, and we are sincerely grateful to Tom and Karen for the chance to stay here.

Tom and Karen’s place exceeded all expectations. We were blown away by how roomy the cabins are, the beautiful crystal clear pond, the wild life, and so much more. Tom even took us on a wagon ride and the kids loved being able to pet and snuggle on their old pups. There is a lot to be said about the property and the owners. All wonderful things. definitely a spot that needs to be revisited again and again. we walked a lot of trails and still have more to come back and enjoy that we haven’t been on yet. And also a note from Leanna, Everything was perfect. The one thing said the most amongst everyone is how it feels like home. All of what we needed was easy to find and no one was bored once. You have done an amazing job at creating a welcoming fun and peaceful family atmosphere. Thank you for allowing us to stay and we look forward to coming back. Enjoy your honey!

In Oct 2025 my friends and I stayed at Timber Valley Retreat for the 2025 Maryland Bear Lottery using the camp as our home base during the hunt. We ended up falling in love with this place and the owners who treated us as family. So much so that we are returning to the Timber Valley Retreat for our summer vacation. The cabins and all accommodations were amazing. The whole camp site is professionally maintained. Additionally, the location makes for a perfect friends gathering or family reunion. They’ll always be our go-to place to stay when visiting western Maryland.

Wow, we just had the best long weekend. This place was extremely clean, air conditioning was nice and cold, kitchen well equipped, shower hot, a lot of very comfy beds and pillows. We felt at home and Tom went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Tom took us on a cool wagon ride. The fire pit was big enough for all of us and the covered porch perfect during and nice summer storm so we could stay outside. We will definitely be back for sure. Thank you Tom and Karen 💙
